A computer switch, in most all cases, is simply shorting out two jumpers. You can actually power up a motherboard but shorting the two "power" pins using something like a screwdriver. Unless your old connectors don't fit the new motherboard's pin header, the old switch should be fine.

i new it was somthing to do with connecting or disconnecting those 2 pins,

but what exactly does 'short cuirciting' mean?

short circuiting is "allowing (electric) charge to flow thru whatever you're shorting". e.g. slamming a conductor between two pins is short circuiting...jumpers are used to short circuit stuff. I'm no good at explaining this stuff...hope I was of any help
