Is there such thing as a USBa 2.0 to 6-pin Firewire 400 cable?

I MEAN A USBa 2.0 TO 4-PIN FIREWIRE 400 CABLE.[/I][/I] I remember seeing one on the internet. But I can't remember where it was located. I need to transfer DV. I've read that no such adapters exist? Is this true? Or would I need to resort to a pricey new hub or motherboard? Thanks.

i would get a Firewire card as the guy above me suggested. Firewire is significantly faster in most situations.

Can I just use a hub to allow my computer to use Firewire? Will doing this allow my digital video camcorder to transfer its vids? Thanks.

Would this thing do the job? Is there anything you'd suggest that's cheaper than this <http://www.iogear.com/product/GUH420/>?

Not gunning at you or anything but have you read the replies that have been posted. There was a reply with a PCI firewire hub card that will go into any PC bought within the last 8 years at least as long as you have a free slot and the card was only $8.

Yeah I changed my mind as I wrote before you. I want a hub if I can get one. I don't really care about cost.

Whether or not such an adapter would be of use is certainly up to question. That adapter is designed to take data from a video camera with only a 1394 output and take it to a computer with only a USB input. If that's the situation, then it would be useful. I think the OP is trying to speed up his USB (or free it from processor interrupts.) In that case no adapter will help. You might as well use USB.

Gee that thing is an absolute rip-off. I just looked at the price. OUTRAGEOUS. That's absolutely ridiculous. PCI cards are RIDICULOUSLY cheap in comparison to that thing. How can they get away with that? Oh that's right. They claim they are the only company that has that product. Grrrr. They have a monopoly. Good luck to them. I bet they get 0 customers.
