Is Thermal Paste Needed?

The heat sink that comes with that processor will have some pre applied to the bottom. If you change from the stock cooler you will need to re apply it for the new heat sink.

The new heat sink may or may not come with thermal grease, so getting some aftermarket stuff would be wise. If you're sticking with the stock heat sink, though, I wouldn't worry about it.
