Is this a bad sign?

Suddenly today i hear a small grinding sound with little dust balls(i think) shooting out of my exhaust fan. Is this bad? It happens every 5-10min atm.

j/k, get a can of compressed air and try blowing it out. That should help if not fix it, sounds like its just full of dust. Just hope it hasn't hurt the fan.
 
I'd try to confirm it's the fan. I'm sure it's all that could spit out the dust balls, but just be sure the hard drive wasn't making any noises around the same time... As long as you're sure it's only the fan, clean out the case and maybe replace the fan if it seems to be going slower. You can get decent fans; about any size, for well under $20.
 
I haven't heard the sound again in awhile, and now i'm starting to hear it again. I really don't want to void the warranty by opening/replacing stuff etc. Is there another way?
