You are a complete idiot.

"offers very little"
Hah. Good one.

Complete idiot? Well, notice that monitor is 60Hz, so anything over it is waste. At least I figured out that one. Also, I said Radeon R9 380 4GB, not R9 380 2GB. How do I know that is 2GB? Easy http://www.anandtech.com/show/9784/the-amd-radeon-r9-380x-review/6 Benchmarks alone are useless. Understanding them is much more important.

So this "complete idiot" owned you again. It seems that some people just cannot discuss anything civilized.

In just about every game at every resolution the 980 is offering around twice the performance of the 380, even at 1080p!

You would be insane to buy a 380 over a 980. Especially given you have up to $2,000 to spend.

Remember that monitor is 60Hz so everything over 60Hz is waste. So forget that twice performance also. Difference between ultra and high settings using 23 inch monitor is very hard to notice.

Perhaps better question is to ask why 2000$ budget machine has 120$ monitor.

Not necessarily. For example, in games on the source engine a tick will be sent every frame. FPS over 60 Hz provides you additional network updates even if your monitor can't refresh more than 60 Hz.

Good point about the monitor size though. Maybe look for a 1440p display if you can afford it or maybe at least a bigger 1080p display if you have some money to spare for a bigger monitor.

The difference between 2 and 4GB is not going to bring the 380 anywhere within grenade range of the 980. You're comparing a mid range card with a top end card. Why? You're not "owning" anyone with that argument.

And to prove the point further. 380X with 4GB of RAM (cuz apparently that is super important) vs the 980. Still not even close.

Not true in all games as mentioned. Also this isn't something you'll use for 6 months. The 980 offers you WAY more longevity than the 380 would. Buying the 380 now just to swap it out again in a few months seems pointless. Might as well buy the best you can now and swap it out when it's no longer performing. Buying a cheap card just to hold you over doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. The 980 will likely retain the bulk of its value in that amount of time anyway and still is powerful enough to not need to be upgraded soon like the 380 potentially would.

Difference between ultra and high settings using 23 inch monitor is very hard to notice.

This is not true.
