is this a good burner?

cool. the only thing with it being internal is that i'm gonna be wanting to move it around between different computers, laptops and desktops. is it possible to get an external case for it? and does it matter much that it doesnt burn dvd-r dls? also considering the computers i'm working with, needing 9 gigs free space to burn a dl might be a problem. what if i could get the first one on ebay for under 50?

I would say the 1st one you showed us was nice. But try finding one of newegg.com instead. It will be a lot cheaper.

If you can find the first on ebay for cheaper, then go for it.

Yup, they're called external enclosures. They're pretty cheap, $10-$20. Make sure you get one that's 5.25"...the size of an optical drive.

BTW- in case you cared, an external enclosure has an ide (or sata or whatever) cable and power cable in the back, and you plug the drive into those. you then plug the enclosure into your USB 2.0 port, and a power outlet, and voila.

right but i'm lookin at it for under 50 on ebay hoping nobody else bids. the first suggestion looks nice but i'm just wondering about needing 9 gigs free space if i want to burn a dvd+r dl. is that still necessary on the lg? it wasnt mentioned. btw, how vital is the capability to burn dvd-r dls?
