im trying to get a new card for my comp. an upgrade if you will.
but I dont want to spend to much because I will be building a new rig in a few months.
Im just trying to be able to play games Like Bf2 and Wow with out lag.

also how much better is it than my current card? and is there something in the 150-200 price range that will be better???

well let me know what you guys think..

Thanks

7600GT is only about 10-15% faster than 6800GT

And when you overclock 6800GT, it will perform as good as 7600GT

I think WoW should not lag on 6800GT !!!

Maybe it is better to upgrade you ram to 2GB because both BF2 and WoW needs a lot of memory.

If you want to upgrade your video card then you should get at least 7900GS

If you are really tight on money, then get the 7600GT and overclock, otherwise get the 7900GT. If you can afford the 7900GS then you can fork out the extra for the GT, that is what I think. All the nvidia cards that I have test all have very generous overclocking headrooms.

can you link me the 7900gt and 7900gs please..
also I plan on getting more ram as well.

Thanks

ok I think Ill go with the 7950.
Im wondering thou if it will work well with my comp.

Thanks alot guys.

If you get the 7950GT then it will definite shift the bottleneck to your RAM or your CPU, but it should translate into an overall improvement in performance.

7950 is probably the best route to go. Even though it would bottleneck, you could use it even after you upgrade your CPU and RAM.

the 6800gt is more than good enough to run those games ,if you are building another pc in a few months i wouldnt waste the money.

how would It cause a bottleneck??
I am getting 1 more gig of ram.
and whats wrong with my cpu? its decent..

Thanks.

There is more to RAM than its capacity you know. There are different RAM speeds as well I think at the moment its at DDR800, yours is half its speed. But there is nothing you can do about it because your are limited by your motherboard.

RAM speed means shit. :P Take a look at DDR400 RAM compared to DRR800 in gaming benchmarks.. The difference is so small it makes you wonder why everyone is in fits to get the fastest RAM.

And while his CPU isn't top of the line, I'm certain that if it does create a bottleneck it will be unnoticeable. I have a similar CPU (albeit OCed with an extra 512 MB's of L2 cache) and i've yet to see any bottlenecking whatsoever.

Go for it. :D

Edit: He has the same CPU as me, I didn't notice

Oblivion owned my graphics on Full detail with MAX AA and AS. :( I have a super-clocked 7900GT. I disagree with the ram, I think its essential to have fast ram or else its going to lag the game, especially really demanding ones like Supreme commander, try playing the largest map with slow ram!!!

You have never had a high FSB processor? It would be best to OC RAM so that it matches the FSB.

It's gonna play wow maxed out that's for sure and will run bf but not sure on what settings.

Wow you just need 10 gb's of fkn HDD space! RAM Is 512 mb, you need a pentium 3 800 Mhz.

You can run that with 0 problems.

Which gives you what? Really fast RAM that doesn't make a squat of difference?

DDR2 is great, I didn't mean to imply it isn't. Anyone thinking of starting fresh would be crazy to choose DDR1 over DDR2, It would be impossible except with an Asrock. But DDR2 is made for those high fsb chips.. someone with their existing DDR1, and the fastest of it's ilk, shouldn't feel they need DDR2 just because it's supposedly faster.

So i say again, the RAM will most definitely not be a bottleneck, And i'm certain the CPU won't be either. OP can overclock that San diego to 3.0ghz, if he's lucky, and i encourage him to do so. It will remove any doubt that it will slow him down.
