Is this a good college computer?

I'm off to college and purchased a Dell Inspiron 6400. I plan on using it for regular school activities as well as music and movie viewing. I'm a musician and I have a set up between my computer and my keyboard to record music. I also will do a bit of gaming as well. Is this a good choice to meet these needs? I'm a little worried about the graphics card if I want to play games and watch movies but I did upgrade the sound card since I focus on music. Also, how long does a 9 cell battery usually last, 3-6 hours?

Looks good. The integrated video wont play any of the new games at enjoyable levels, so you really have to make a choice here.

The 9 Cell battery lasted 4-6 hours in my Dell E1505 (Similar to yours, except the T2500 and x1400).
 
Hell of a rig for college! Yea just upgrade the video card whenever you have the time and money. That will make your movies look much better.
 
err, i just bought a asustek a6km for 700£ abt 1200$ and it plays games great, better than my desktop it hs 8 cell battery and it lasts around 3hrs with correct power saving settings (i can stretch it to 4hrs if i turn down brightness and run@ 800/600 res.) it has same RAM as that one, 100gb hdd same screen, sameish (i think) sound card (i know i LOVE the sound quality in comparison with my desktop) the product code is asus a6km q013h i think, this is probably better than that one but i dunno rerally, depends if you can get it in america or w/e
 
Thanks for your comments! I already bought the computer so I just hope that the video card is upgradable in the future because a lot of people say it's rare for a laptop to have the ability to upgrade it's video card. Thanks again!
