I´m thinking of buying this computer:
Dell Inspiron XPS M1530 Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83GHz / 2048MB / 160GB / TFT15.4 / DVDRW / Win Vista Home Premium.

I this a computer that can "handle" programs as Photoshop, Illustrator, Archicad good?

Or can anyone suggest a computer that is more suitable for me that costs the same or less.

Thanks!

That should be pretty good... you're not going to be setting any record times on that CPU though.

EDIT: I almost forgot! Welcome to the forums! :)

Thanks!
That do you suggest is the minimum CPU for me? Is 2 GB RAM enough if I´m going to use this programs? I´m very lost when it comes to hardware, I need help! And what kind of graficcard do I need?

Since you're gonna be running Vista AND high graphics apps you may want to play it safe and go with 3GBs. Probably 2.0GHz would be better... how much are you planning on spending? I don't see any current XPS systems that have less than 2.0GHz. If you spend $1350 and get the M1530 you'll get a 2.4GHz C2D (which is what the standard MacBook Pro is powered by, so no concerns there) and 4GB of RAM. That should do you quite well...

Not sure about the graphics card... wait for some other opinions.

for photoshop, that thing can eat a computer, so i would seggest like 4 gigs, 3 gigs min, because if you have 3 gigs you prolly cant multitask while photoshopping, and that cpu should probably be upgraded a little bit but this is a laptop right?, you probably wont find one much better, the highest ive seen on a laptop is like 2.2, so 1.8 really isnt that bad, i think with a little bit more ram youll be in good shape!

What is your budget?

That would make it easier...based on what you said you do, I have some recommendations but I need to know your price!

Nah, there's MBP's with 2.8GHz C2Ds in them.

lol you shouldnt overclock a laptop, those things get hot enough there not made to handle heat

Agreed. Laptops have limited heat-transfer capabilities as it is. OCing them is generally asking for problems and/or voided warranties. Some can handle it in marginal capabilities, but for most...bad mojo.

The standard isnt T5Xxx series. It's powered with a T9xxx as my 2.5GHz is the T9300

Technically you folks are correct, you shouldn't/can't oc a laptop, but the one I have and the new ASUS my roomie has are both gaming machines with built-in overclocking tools.

The ASUS is able to do 2.8GHZ with full ASUS warranty/gaurantee

Same on my new ACER---they cover warrnanty/gaurnate on oc. because they provide it.

:P

But.,,yeh for everyone else////DON'T O.C. YOUR LAPTOP.
