Is this a good Drive?

A drive's a drive's a drive... You can really get down to their error recovery capabilities and what not, but typically there's very little difference between drives. If the price is right and a good number of people have given the drive high ratings, I say go for it...

You're better off with an LG or Pioneer than the Samsung. I sold Samsung for a while.. Used to. I don't like them... at all.

The brand of a drive has far less to do with things then the blank media and burning software used. Some brands seem to get fussy about the brand of media you use. Different formats of video will favor one program over others often.

What don't you like about them?

Samsung has proven consistently that their drives are unreliable. Most of the ones I sold quit in short order. They're the WD of optical drives in my experience.

The LG and the Pioneers go for a long time, burn anything you throw at them, even supporting overburn depending on the model and firmware.

There are a couple of key things to focus on when buying one, and price isn't one of them.

Firmware
Media compatibility
Reliability

LG and Pioneer are the two mainstream units that take the cake.

sirkenin your right i have had 2 Pioneer drives for almost 7 years an they both go great a bit slow cos they burn at 4x but still going an work fine i would deffently recemend Pioneer drives.
we have 1 LG an we have had that for a couple of years now an that has been great no probs at all.
