how much are you looking at spending, there are a few issues but the first 2 i see are the cpu, a x4 965 is actually going to give the same or better performance in game, and the psu, unless you pick one of the specified brands they are going to use a generic pile of sh*t.

i think he noticed how high the prices are on them for now and the guy prob already has and hdd from an old comp i guess.

Good time to assemble it yourself? Family project that would take a few hrs on a Sat. afternoon?

Does he need 6 cores?
Deneb or Thuban cpu may be better right now, till AMD resolves the lacking performance of thier new line of processors. Or go Intel.

The certified cooler will be the one that AMD already provides with the cpu.
Without Office starter/keyboard-mouse/speakers -
the rest of what's listed can be had for $750, including Windows 7.

I and most here will suggest you take the amount the prebuilt will cost, and get the components yourself to distribute the $ to each individual part to best maximize quality and performance. If you still want to pre-order:

Are 6 cores needed? Consider Phenom II or 1090T.
Will games be played, if so which ones?
A 60-64GB SSD should be close to the same price. What other brands/models do they offer?
Need hdd if you don't have one.
Change the Xtreemgear, Coolmax, or whichever one that is - to Corsiar.

Do we know what type of games he wants to play?

550ti is a decent card, but 560ti or 570 better for todays games.

As the other posters have mentioned.. 6 cores is really not needed in gaming

Also, 4gb or Ram is OK.. but with the newer games, I would go with 8gb.

HD--? SSD is great, but not for the only HD in the system.

PSU-- Make sure of the brand.. Cheap PSU's cause expensive problems...

Hi,

He will be playing world of warcraft most of the time. He also wants skyrim in the PC version.

the total is at $860 right now...I would like to get it as low as possible without it being crap..LOL

World of Warcraft is a game that uses CPU more than GPU... BUT... don't go short on the GPU just for that because as new expansions and new games come out... he will need it.

My suggestion is to stick with a 4 core processor... I like the 2500k processor as it scores higher in WoW Benchmarks.

Also, go with the 560ti or higher if you can. I do play WoW myself some, but havent tried Skyrm yet.

Still find out about the Hard Drive... you will need a larger, non SSD hard drive. The SSD is not a must if you need to save money.. but is a nice addition.

Thanks!

I am just clicking on boxes so i don't really know what I'm doing, but I think this would be ok..let me know if you see anything I need to change.

I am not computer savvy and I don't even know what some of this means..lol

I'm sure I could figure out how to add things to it..but not build it from scratch;/

Thanks :)

i really hate there site cuz you'd be much better off for the power supply with th corsair tx-650, but they require 700+ watts for it, and the 750 is like 80 more, but with the 750 he'd be able to get a second 560 later on and get some really good gaming in.
