is this a good gaming conputer?

You won't be able to play medium to high end games. GTX460 would be better. You may want to pass buying a store bought system and build your own as you will get much better parts and longer warranty on most parts.
 
I agree with john...you could build a NICE system for the same price...or just upgrade the GPU.. :)
 
I don't know how to build a computer and I don't want to screw it up. So is there a computer like this that I could get but with a better gpu?
 
Pre-built computers such as the one posted are fine, don't buy into the "build your own computer" hype. As stated, new gen. games will not run on high, but I think the warranty given is fine, and despite what many want to believe, pre-built computers contain "high quality" parts (whatever "high quality" means). Be sure to purchase an extended warranty. There are always better deals than the computer you're looking at, but that's just the way it is. You buy that computer you posted, and a few days later, a better computer that is cheaper will replace it. Such is the world of computers, "build your own" or pre-built. However, don't expect a $600 computer to do leaps and bounds for you.

Is that a contradiction there? You said they contain "high quality" parts but then you say whatever high quality means. :confused:

Prebuilt computers come with crappy power supplies. If you ever want to upgrade your video card, you will need to upgrade the psu.

When you build a computer, you get a 3 year warranty on the motherboard, hard drive and cpu. Lifetime warranty on the memory usually. Psu you can get usually 2, 3, or 5 year warranty. A year on everything else.

So you can't tell me that a prebuilt system is as good as custom built.

I was being sarcastic with the "high quality" statement lolz. I would never say that a pre-built is better than a custom built computer. It's never that simple. However, I don't believe the power supplies are crappy by any means, the power supplies provided get the job done. Purchasing a pre-built and planning on upgrading the GPU probably isn't the best idea, no. However, one area that I believe pre-builts excel in (and, consequently make pre-builts a viable and popular option) are the warranties. A 1 year free parts, free labor warranty, and a cheap extended free parts, free labor warranty commonly offered is quite a good deal, and benefits the customer and manufacturer immensely. Especially for people that: 1.) run a business, 2.) are elderly, or possibly handicapped, and 3.) a family that isn't computer literate, and can't afford the time to be. I'll be one to tell you that my mother is extremely intelligent, and will take me down when it comes to taxes, business, speeding and getting away with it, etc, but when I lived with her, and it came to computers, it was a no brainer I was the one to make the decisions. That's why pre-built computers are beneficial to people such as my mother, since I'm not there, to get a functioning computer, that fills her needs perfectly. I own a pre-built computer, and of course own one I built myself.

I agree john...I was just giving him some options, since he said he cant build his own...i built mine and LOVE it!!!
