Is this a good gaming PC?

Hi I decided to build a PC for the first time, after lots of research ive decided which parts i want, so here they are:

Processor = Intel i5-760
Mother Board = ASUS Maximus III Formula
RAM = Corsair Vengance 8Gb Dual Channel DDR3
Gaphics Card = ASUS GTX 560 TI Direct CUII TOP
HDD = Western Digital Caviar Blue (500Gb,7200rpm,SATAIII,16Mb cache)
SSD = Corsair Force Series GT (60gb) NOT REQUIRED
ODD = LG BH10LS30.AUAR10B
PSU = Antec HCG-750
OS = Windows 7 64bit home premium
Case = X-Case Red S1 Gaming chasis

I understand the intel socket 1156 is 'out of date' now, is there an alternative intel processor/motherboard to these?

Just checking to see if this is all compatible really and if anybody would suggest something else?

Thanks :)

Agreed with Phy. About the same price and better performance.

Go with a 2GB video card if looking to play newer games at 1080.

other than that stuff looks about perfect, but i can't find that case, and i'd recomend going for something like the cooler master haf 912 if you can, great case. Also unless you plan to sli a second 560ti then all you need is a 600-650w, but that is a great one. and where are you ordering this stuff from? but here's what i'd pick for the cpu/mobo

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.764511

and this ram is currently on sale

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231428

there are also some good coolers on sale i'd rec looking at.

Great thanks everyone!

Ill be going with the i5-2500k then, looks great!
Okay thanks Claptonman i will look into a 2gb one!
And wow that is cheap ram :eek: thanks! as for the mother board, looks great! i think i will be getting that one, all other ASUS ROG motherboards are rediculously expensive, and a good deal with the cpu aswell!
Im ordering from the cheapest place possible!

Say i couldnt afford a 2gb graphics card, would it really matter?

And here is the case i was looking at: http://www.xcase.co.uk/product-p/case-s1.htm

Thanks again :)

hmmm, thanks for the suggestion, ive never liked AMD hardware, but do i REALLY need a 2gb Graphics card?

Perhaps i need to rethink my choice of graphics card :/

amd hardware is great, as for cpus they are pretty good, intel is better though, for gpus, they win in a lot of price points. and 2gb's will be better as many games ar using closer to 1.25 to 1.5gb's now, so 1gb cards aren't the best.

and if you are in the uk then you might want to look at overclockers.co.uk, ebuyer.com, and i think it was like dabs.com or something.

are you in the uk, cuz those deals i linked are on a us based site, so you couldn't get them.

and those are pretty good cases, but i'm not sure how good that site is.

Okay i think ive come to a decision:
(ive revised a few of the parts and found a few cheap alternatives)

Processor: Intel i5-2500k
MotherBoard: GA-Z68XP-UD4
RAM: Corsair Vengance 2x4GB
Graphics Card: ASUS GTX 560 TI
HardDiskDrive: Western Digital Caviar Blue
SolidStateDrive: Corsair Force Series GT 60GB
OpticalDrive: Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP
Case: NZXT Phantom Red
PSU: Antec HCG-620
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

All parts have been ordered, thanks for the help guys :D
