Is This A Good Setup?

Hello everybody, I joined here to ask you guys a question. I've been browsing a few of the ". . . . 101" threads checking out some of the stuff you've put up. . . and a lot of you seem to really know what you're talking about. Unfortunately I can't say the same for some of the "nerds" at my school, who keep recommending me sub-par parts.

So I've decided to become a member to ask you guys a few questions. . .

Ok. . . I'm going to college in 2 years and I want to be an architect, but I also want to get into PC gaming (been rocking a ps3 this gen but I want to expand). My chief goal here is to make a powerful gaming PC, but it would be nice if it could run some drafting programs such as AUTOCADD, Revit, or Inventor as well. I have no money or steady job right now, but hopefully by the end of the year I will have enough saved up to have most of the thing built, anyway. No strict budget, but it'd be nice to stay under $1,000

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Six-Core Desktop Processor HDT90ZFBGRBOX $199.99
ASUS M4N98TD EVO AM3 NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI ATX AMD Motherboard $139.99
CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-850HX 850W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 80 PLUS SILVER Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply Now: $164.99
SPARKLE SXX4602048D5SNM GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Now: $214.99

Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive now: $64.99

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL $84.99

ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner - Bulk - OEM $18.99
OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) Now: $124.99

So. . . Are all these parts compatible? Are they pretty good? If not, why/what do you recommend instead? What case(s) would you recommend? If I don't include the SSD (which I would use as a boot drive), the price is a little under $900 without a case.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks for any help you can give

Looks pretty good...... As for the case, a nice cheap one would be the antec 300...also the 900 is good :)

I think you're wasting your money on that power supply, is 850W really necessary?

Well, I don't know much about power usage for pcs but I was planning on buying another GTX 460 somewhere down the line and crossfiring or SLI (can't remember lol. I'm not much of a techie) them.
