Is this a significant performance increase

Is it worth it or not?

I bumped my my fsb up from 133 to 145 not sure on the numbers but I can tell you the processor default speed when it started 2.66grz and now its up to 2.88 my question is is it worth doing this? Doesn't seem to be overheating my system but it could be unstable don't know until I test it.

i havent done any overclocking before but im thinking about trying it out. What i want to know is how do you test to tell if its stable? Some type of program i figure.

spacedude, why would you say that havening it overclocked is not worth it? As long as its stable, why wouldn't you want it to be an extra 220Mhz faster?

well its not a huge OC, and I doubt you'll notice the difference too much... but if you didnt have to up the vcore then your fine to leave it :)

as long a there is no vcore increase then its ok to leave it, but you will only see the difference in benchmark, no real world task will benefit

Nope no voltage increases and for some reason even if I do up the vcore on my computer it doesn't make it any more stable.

wait a minute, how can you get more stable than stable.. are you saying you current OC is not stable

My bad I just misworded and left out a detail. When I up the fsb to more that 145 the system gets unstable and upping the voltage doesn't make a difference. But I guess that it could be making it so hot that it causes it become unstable.

Well I tried to push it up to 150 just to see if I could do it and now my computer has a bunch of corrupt files and things:) :( :)

Just bring it back down, then. It might be that your comptuer doesn't have an AGP or PCI lock, and it is messing up your hard drive..

Yea I turned it back down I guess when I walked away for a little while my computer kept restarting and now I'm going to do a reinstall it was about time for it anyways. The only problem is I can't find my cds cause I just moved can anybody tell me where I can download one I remember the key by heart so all I need is a CD.

Ps. I probably should have posted most of this in operating systems, but it has to do with cpus and overclocking in a way.

Legally downloading it? hmm. I don't think that you can download windows XP from microsoft..

Find your CD's. Be careful, asking for iso's on this board is a quick way to lock the thread.

Your CD's are somewhere, just focus on where you put them. :)
