What will it be used for?

As a systeem, by modern day standards no, it is crap, but if it is only for storage, internet browsing or word processing it is fine. It will take its time over doing it but it will work

Buy a new video card for it.

Hi ultima,
I saw your PC configuration, it's great but instead of windows xp ,try out the latest OS by Windows .i.e Windows 7. It's been brilliant, very easy to use, less clicks, quickest, reliable etc. I am sure, this will be the added advantage.

You're an idiot, Windows 7 will just tax his systems hardware even further!

Changing his operating system to Windows 7 will not help with what he wants to use his computer for.

As others have stated, your current system is not good enough for Call of Duty 4. You are going to have to upgrade if you want to use this system for the video games you want.

Here are the recommended required specifications for Call of Duty 4:

* Central Processing Unit: 2.4 gigahertz dual core processor or or better is recommended
* RAM: 1 gigabyte for XP; 2 gigabytes for Vista is recommended
* Hard drive: 8 gigabytes of free hard drive space
* Video card: Nvidia Geforce 7800 or better or ATI Radeon X1800 or better

If you want recommendations for a decent pre-built system or how to build you own computer we can guide you in that direction.

You may as well buy a new computer. By the time you have finished upgrading, there wont be much difference. Just keep that case, the hard drives, and the optical drives.
