is that good? or should I buy some hwere else or change something? help please. what virus protection and maintanence is the best too?

$3500 and only 1600s? And only a 3800? No way! That's a horrible deal! And why on earth do you need 1.5TB of HD space?

Give me a bit... I'm going to configure you one though newegg.

lol thats why i asked because i never bought a computer before and i dont know what im doing.

I'm skimming over it again and I see you do have more stuff in there than I originally thought, but it still is rather overpriced... Still working on one for you...

OK, I finished for the most part. Hopfully someone can double check my work because I'm not quite as familar with the Core 2 Duo. However, this system would SLAUGHTER the one you posted. It is about $100 more, but with this budget, I didn't think it'd matter too much :P

*edit*
I just realized I had two cross fire edition cards. I'm fairly new to crossfire, you only need one Crossfire compatable one, or does it matter if you have two? It's too late for me to check on that. Plus I'm feeling a little sick...

Wow, what will you be using this thing for? From the looks of it you want pure power and games, games, and more games. Hopefully this isn't just for school work and such; if it is, you really need to reconsider your options because it's over the top if it just for school;)

The_Other_One's config looks good, only a couple of things i'd change.

1. No need for two X1900 CF cards. Get one of the ones indicated, and a regular X1900XT.

2. You'd get better performance from a decent DDR2-800 kit.

3. I'd drop the CPU to an E6600, it brings you within budget and gives you a little more to spend on the RAM.

4. That PSU is inadequate for Crossfired X1900s (+12V@32A). Given the budget, i'd look at the OCZ GameXStream 700W

5. I'm assuming that this is a gaming machine ...

1. Ah, yeah... After posting that, I thought I rememberd it being something like that...

2. Woops :o I changed motherboards, previous one used 667

4. They require that much power

funny tough... first you ask him why the hel he would need 1,5Tb space.. and then you put him 1,5Tb in the build you suggested.. :P
i think 500Gb is more than enough already.. its a shame of having a load of unused HD space, and its wasted power consumption too :)

Yeah, I totally agree 500G would be PLEANTY(considering I hardly fill the 60G on my laptop  ) However, if you noticed I tried to keep many things fairly similar in his build. Same monitor, printer, sound card... I figured he must have a reason to have that much space :P

nah, I just figured if im going to have alot of games ill need alot of space. what i need to know most is how does one pay for it? do they alow monthly payments on each part? I dont know.
