Hi. I'm just wondering if a(ny) laptop optical disc drive can be re-used to build a desktop computer. Instead of pulling out more money for a blu ray drive, I figured it'd be green of me to recycle.

If I cannot, any recommendations for one? I prefer a slot loading drive that plays blu ray.

A laptop optical drive has a different interface than a desktop optical drive. Unless it's SATA, but you will have a problem mounting a laptop optical drive in a desktop.

I would go with something like this that supports BDR-DL and BD-XL and M-Disk.
