Is this computer adequate for watching internet video on my HDTV?

The HD300 might have a hard time. you can spend just over 60 bucks for a HD5450 with a gig of ram that would blow that hing away.

I take it your on a budget?

I ended up buying an Asus CM1630-06 desktop today with 4gb ram with ATI Radeon 3000 integrated graphics on the motherboard. The picture quality on my HDTV is excellent. I will cancel cable TV now and watch all my shows streaming on cbs.com, abc.com, and nbc.com.

I will save $75 a month since I am cancelling cable. This new computer will pay for itself in 6 months.

I will probably buy a dedicated video card anyway since they are so cheap. One without a fan so that it will be quiet.

If it's got an HDMI port then its fine. HD media isn't as demanding as people think. Fortunately its not, mostly since its still only in 2D mode. So long as the card supports your desired resolution, you're laughing.

If you do feel the need to get a dedicated card, the 5450 can be found in a passively cooled, low profile version for $40 on newegg.

Yes it has HDMI. It works great. I am very happy. Will get a video card just for the fun of it.

because in all honesty, if the 3000 is decent, the 5450 will be more than enough for movies and such. hes not playing crysis on max settings :P

The 5450 is just a good media card for its price point and power consumption. Mostly the latter. I only suggested it in case the integrated chipset was for some reason lacking. There isn't really anything out there that is comparable that wouldn't require a power supply upgrade.

How do I figure out the maximum power level for a video card that my desktop will accept? My desktop is an Asus CM1630-06. There is an ad for it on the Best Buy website, but it does not specify video card slot available power.

I ask because I want to know if it can handle a 1 gig 5450 video card instead of half a gig.

The extra 512mb of video memory will do you no good and will not consume any significant amount of power. In fact the onboard is more than enough for streaming HD content.
