Is this deal any good?

It looks like its a Nvidia branded card.

It's pretty cheap, and definitely would kill your 3870 x2, but at only 769MB for Vram, I would be cautious. I would go for at least 1GB. What resolution are you looking at?

1366x768 lol, nothing hardcore, maximum would be 1650x1200 when i play on my tv (there or abouts)

theres this gtx 460 iv seen or a hd 5830 for a bit cheaper, are they any good?

Ye i was thinking as i can get the 5830 brand new, 36 month warranty and a decent make, asus cu or something (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Asus-Rade...V_Cards_TW&hash=item3f0dfcaf71#ht_2132wt_1209) this one, i think its a good make, for cheaper than the gtx 460

Would i get good settings with it? At my resolution.

I am upgrading the cpu etc in a few weeks

EDIT: my absolute max as of now that i can spend is £90, no more what so ever.

Would it be wiser to go for the gtx 460 off overclockers that is refurbished etc with only a year warranty, or the 5830 which is brand new, cheaper and has 36 month warranty?

Cool cool, well im going to go for the hd 5830 as its cheaper, and i like the whole asus over ocuk brand :P

Am i safe in assuming its a decent upgrade from a 3870 x2?

i'll just leave that at yes ;), 2 gens newer, dx11, prob way higher clocks and core and shader speeds, along with more total cores too and all the newer tech to boot, you won't be dissatisfied.

EDIT: actually, although i know they got you in this mess to begin with, hwcompare has fps benches for both showing them almost equal.

http://www.hwcompare.com/4774/radeon-hd-3870-x2-512mb-vs-radeon-hd-5830/

but also the newer drivers of the 5830 should help you alot in gaming.

Tbh benches annoy me because they dont tell you how skitty the 3870x2 is in some games, for example modern warfare 2 and fallout3, some games it is excellent.

I think thats due to the inherint micro stuttering on dual gpu configurations so i reckon ill be happy with the 5830.

Iv ordered it anyway haha so i will try and convince myself lol

New gpu arrived today and.....it was broke :p

Got to send it back next week :(, was extremely gutted :/

this is the first out 4 GPU's iv had in the last 2 month that was bought brand new and the only one that was broke :p go figure

wow, you got some pretty dong bad luck man. just think that you are at least getting something, unlike some *caugh*caugh*me* people.

Lol, i have rubbish luck something usually goes right (i actually get the money for the gpu) then something goes horribly wrong (the fan is snapped clean off :P)

It happens a lot im starting to think im like a bad charm or something :P
