is this external harddive a good price

it was 119 at compusa last week. it is good because you can leave it on and it will turn off when you turn off your computer and it will turn on when you turn on your computer. if you store stuff that are bigger than 4gb you might wanna format it to ntfs because it came as fat32.

Sorry for asking a dumb question. but could you explain what fat32 is and what it does or why its bad?

Loooks pretty good but it may be cheaper to get a 500gb hard drive and a cheap external caddy for it - which ever is cheaper

they set it to fat32 because it will be compatible with windows 9x or os that willl still runs on fat32 filesystem. if you store single files larger than 4gb you will need to format it to ntfs.

is it hard to reformat to ntfs or whatever,

cause I have some files larger than 4 gbs , such as cutrom movie trailer demos I make for my home theater system ,

im really considering purchasing one , I like these pretty silver ones I see that are metal , but they are alot mroe expensive and I have heard good thigns about these, so I may get one

I have to have something and somehtnig soon to start storing my data so I can free up some computer space.

No. if you have windows xp, or vista, just right click the drive and hit format. and slect it to ntfs and hit quick format and hit format
