Okay, thank you for opening my thread and to help me out! =]

I have a trustfund of a couple thousand dollars, i am a minor so my mom said she would sign for it. I'm looking for a computer under $1,000.00. I've seen one I like, but maybe you can help me out?

I want a good HARDDRIVE space, and good Grahpics as i can play some games. I want good stuff, I really don't know what I'm looking for.. =[

Here is one that i was looking at: http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pages/aurora/aurora_overview.aspx?SysCode=PC-AURORA-R5&SubCode=SKU-DEFAULT

I don't care what Brand, I DONT WANT LINUX or anything, Windows Xp or Vista please.

Thanks in advance , CJerread93

If you are going to be gaming I would definitely pick Windows XP operating system over Vista. What games are you planning to play with this new system?

Do you want a pre-built computer? Or build your own?
I want a Pre built.

I wont play many games really. Just couple hours a day.

Oxymoron: a combination of contradictory or incongruous words.

And my opinion of Windows XP is it is a better operating system overall than Vista currently. If you insist on getting Vista, get 32-bit Vista as it has less compatibility problems than 64-bit Vista currently.

It is a waste of money.

I haven't heard many good things about Alienwares support or customer service.

Way overpriced.

Don't waste your money on alienware go for something like this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227061

I would suggest going with a dual-core processor, preferably a intel core 2 duo (e8400 is perfect for you) it will outperform the quad core in gaming)

The best advice would actually be to take that money and invest it in a nice mutual fund, or a CD with a good return rate and earn interest on your money, but I am not your parents and can't tell you how to spend your money. Don't waste the money on the PC unless you need it.

I agree completely if your going to get a gaming computer i would say XP is your best bet. :)

Every major brand that sells computers pre-built is overpriced compared to building it yourself. ;)

That looks like a solid gaming computer for sure. :)

<Off-Topic>
I'd use that money and put it into a GIC of some sort, i have one and mine pays like 4.5% (i signed at a good time)
Agreed don't buy this computer unless you completely need a new one. (or need to spend 100s of $ on repairs/upgrades.) Getting a new computer just because you want to or because you consider your out of fashion is a complete waste of money, but hey thats my option. :)

getting a computer because your old one is weak is actually one of the best reasons, i would think lol. or else people would still be using their pIII's at 266MHZ.

but besides that, i like the computer posted from newegg.com, IBuyPower makes some pretty good computers, and they arent horridly overpriced.

EDIT: though after looking at it, it seems that they skimped severely on the motherboard, i mean, it only has two ram slots, one pci-e (not that bad i guess lol) but i dont think it is of the highest quality nevertheless. oh and the wiring almost made me puke.
