Is this laptop better than a desktop?

Ok, I was planning on building my own desktop with a $800 budget, and then buying a cheap crappy laptop next year when I go to college.

So I walk into BestBuy today just to look around because I love that store, and see an awesome looking gaming laptop made by Asus. Here's the link for it: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...oduct&id=1218092150636#tabbed-customerreviews

So the point of all this, instead of spending $800 for a desktop then maybe $300 in a year for a laptop, would it be a better idea to get this laptop that I posted above?

And also is it a good deal in the 1st place? I read some of the reviews and everyone liked it, and the lady at BestBuy suggested it. So is it worth the money?

Everything was looking good until I read this
Battery Life Up to 2 hours and 7 minutes.. Laptops after like 4 years of usage can still pull more hours then that

Yea I saw the short battery life and that it overheats. But I'll just buy a cooling thing, and not really worried about the 2 hour life span. I just want to know if it's a good computer.

I don't see the point of spending $1000 on a laptop to play games.

You could build a Core i7 pc for about that much.

Bod, it's not just for playing games. I'm going to college in a year and many require a laptop. And I like that It's portable and not a big desktop taking up a lot of room.

And Pat I was looking into that. But thanks for the comment. :)
