Hi there,
Can anyone suggest the answer to a newbie's problem please. I have a PC a couple of years old that I had forgotten about, the video card being kaput, so just wondering if there is anyway that I can purchase any cables that will allow me to view what is on the drives there on my working PC, or do I need to do the obvious and purchase another graphics card? Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.

Well your video card is what enables your OS and whatever programs used to be displayed, if it is a stand alone card you could try to remove and see if you have onboard graphics, otherwise buy a cheapo to access your computer again.

Well if the drives are still in the old computer, that means they still have cables attached. So just take the drive with the cable out, hook them up to your new computer as slaves and see whats on them.
 
Thanks guys.....looked at the url Cleric and it seems useful....thanks for explaining what a graphics card does Etsa.....joking mate.....and I should have done that a while ago Stranglehold, I've got plenty of room in my set up.
