Is this possible?

If I had 2 routers could i have 1 with open ports connected to my desktop via LAN and the other with closed ports for the rest of my family to connect to?
and would these have different IPs? (might be a dumb question xD)

I have something like that: I have a firewall appliance built from a P4 with Smoothwall Express and three ethernet cards. One connects to the DSL modem, the second is the secure LAN for the home, and the third is for the Wireless network.

My computer is on the exceptions list; so I am exempt from filtering, but still have protection from the firewall.

As far as the ISP is concerned, no.

My 'green' network is 192.168.1.x and my 'blue' network is 192.168.2.x and that is totally programmable.

So basically...no...it isn't possible with home routers (at least none I've seen?), but is entirely possible with different hardware, like hardware firewalls (like dngrsone described)

If what you want it to have two home routers in your house, one basically allowing a DMZ environment to all of its ports, and one that is more secure, then as far as I'm aware you can't do this.

If you have a spare PC around and an extra NIC card then do some research, set it up and post any problems you have to the forum!
