is this power supply sufficient?

Why do you want a rose "rot" whatever cheapo supply? This Fortron will do far better for a little more at $69. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817104037

To see where Rose whatever ends up between the "good" and "bad" lists,

Good:
Antec(except Smart Power models) - Astec - AOpen - Channel Well - Coolermaster - Enermax(except Liberty models)
- Enlight - Fortron Source (Sparkle) - HEC - OCZ Technology - PC Power & Cooling - PowerMan
- Seasonic - SilverStone - Sunbeam - Tagan(older models) - TTGI/SuperFlower - Vantec - Zippy / Emacs - Verax - XCLIO - Zalman
- Corsair

Bad:
Allied - Antec Smart Power models seem to lack(recommend True Power or NeoHE) - Aspire - CoolMax - DEER - Enermax Liberty models - ePower - EYE-T
- KingStar - L&C - Linkworld - Logisys - PowerMagic - PowerUp - Powmax - Q-Tec - Raidmax - Skyhawk - Star
- Turbolink - Ultra - ThermalTake(complaints heard some good some ???) - Rosewill - SilenX ??? ToPower(newer models) - Youngyear

Rosewill's aren't horrible. They're not the best high end units but aren't exactly no name generic brands either. I wouldn't suggest that he uses it on a high end system but they are good for powering low-end/mid range systems.

No thank you! I'll stay with Antec for the moment and this is far from a high end build here. It's more of a work horse build. The lists here are not based on only one or two opinions either. I just bailed a friend out when his NZXT supply crapped with my old Antec TP2 480w model. Anyone need an old 300w or 350w Antec? Those are still hanging around.

My friend uses a rosewill to power a 7900gt/core 2 duo system, and it's been holding up without a hickup. My other friend is running a P4 cedermill (i think that's the name of the core) along with a 6800gs with a rosewill and he hasn't had any trouble with his system, which is about 3 years old. Rosewill's aren't great, but they aren't horrible either.

Rosewill is one of those names where you don't how it will go. You don't really want to recommend that or some other low end make for a gaming build or good work horse system unfortunately. For budget builds they could last as well as some generic makes which are often renamed low end models sold under different names then the usual brand name by some companies.

Fortron, Antec, OCZ, Corssir, and others have been around for years now and have good reps. In fact if the current Antec TP2 550w gave out I would probably take a look at one of the others like the Corsair HX520 or Silverstone models. On the other hand you can buy a cheapie at times and see it last for a long time. It depends mainly on application.

i've had my rosewill for almost a year now and have never once had a problem. In my eyes they are a good brand. Where did you come up with that good/bad list anyway?

As far as Rosewell goes, I would not recommend one. I,m sure there all kinds of people that have one thats fine, if not they would not still be around, but its pretty far down on the list. Like motherboards, Asrock and PCchips are low quality boards but if you have one that runs its fine.
As far as that good and bad list, its kinda misleading. Theres 2 or 3 in the bad lists that are pretty good supplies

Those lists weren't compiled from one or two opinions but were a reference to start. Most of the comparisons and complaints were about one being better then another for gaming and ocing builds with "better amps on the rails". The two primary things looked at here are reliability and stability. That's when you place a good load on a system and the power levels don't drop... ooooooff  somewhere with lights dimming.

Power? Yes! Reliable? It's one of the names on the low end(foobar) list. When going for a supply I don't expect to find a good 500w for that low a price unless there's a sale or manufacturer's mail in rebate. I never go by reviews seens at vendors since those are geared to sell. A good independent source is Tom's Hardware. Plus a good make is one you can take with you into the eventual new build you will want.
