is this quad computer good for gaming?

i know that a video card should be added but how good do u think the one in it is? do u think it will be a fairly easy computer to upgrade in the future? i mean for games i usually play my 360, i just want a computer thats lightning fast because this crappy old dell dimension 3000 sucks and i always have a ton of windows opened at once and it takes forever to load.


and also i always here people complaining about vista, isnt vista meant for mulitple core processors and xp really sint, so therefore wouldnt vista be better on a computer like this?

Good processor. Probably crappy motherboard and psu. Moment you put an 7600 in or so the PSU will probably melt. The motherboard probably has the overclocking stuff disabled...

You wont be able to overclock that machine, HP will have that part of the BIOS locked.

In some cases resetting the BIOS may allow you to overclock...

Remmeber that overclocking voids the warranty.. so never purchase an extended warranty

Processor is very nice. Gaming quality though, wont be too good by the looks of the intergrated graphics.

The problem is, HP, Dell, Gateway and all the other system builders make it so that you can not upgrade the mother board in the future, they use proprietary mother boards and power supply's. Also the case's they use can not be used to build a future system.

If all that is ok, then go for it. But you WILL need to upgrade the video card. Never ever get a system with integrated video.

Also, you have no idea when buying a pre built system like this what parts they used to make it. They probably used the cheapest parts they have laying around to make them.

Would I buy it? NO!

Yeah HP uses asus boards with overclocking locked out, you can how ever upgrade the motherboard and psu in an HP system, most of their new systems are ATX based cases. As for gaming I sure hope the motherboard has an PCIe slot because you arn't gettin anywhere with Intel graphics. I could build a quod core computer for the same amount of money and watch it blow any Hp or gateway away!
