Is this RAM compatible?

Hey, I'm new to this forum so first off just want to say hi.
I've got myself a 256mb DDR266 stick of RAM sitting here in front of me on my desk, and I'd love to just drop it in that empty slot and boost my box up to a somewhat respectable 512. I've got Compaq Presario SR1410NX and the crucial scanner tells me that I can put DDR PC2700,DDR PC3200 in it to increase the level.
So I'm just wondering if this stick I have here will work in my cpu.
If anyone can answer that I'd greatly appreciate the input.
Thanks in advance
Jay

The Compaq site says it takes PC2700 (DDR333), but doesn't mention taking slower speeds. I would think they would include support for DDR266 in the BIOS but I don't know for sure. You can always try it and if it doesn't boot, remove the slow memory.

It the BIOS that needs to support slower RAM. The interface itself is compatible but if the BIOS wants to run DDR266 at DDR333 speeds, the DDR266 more than likely is not going to like it.
