Is this set up worth it?

Hello, I just have a quick question because I don't know too much about computers and thought you guys would be the right people to turn to.

I am looking to buy a new PC for gaming. I don't need to have the best, amazing graphics or anything, just something on par with xbox 360 or ps3.
I was looking on craigslist and saw that someone was selling a PC with these specs:

Pentium D 3.4Ghz Dual Core Processor; Windows 7; DVD-RW Drive; 4Gb Dual-Channel [SUPER*TALENT] RAM;
nVidia GeForce 8600GT [512Mb] Dedicated Graphics Card; 80Gb Seagate Hard Drive all in a Dell OptiPlex shell.

The seller is asking $300. As I stated earlier, I just want a rig that can run games that look at least as good as the games look on the xbox 360 or ps3. I'm also not expecting this rig to run Crysis at max settings or anything. So is $300 worth it? Or should I save up and get a better PC?

It's a little older than most, but I guess it would be comparable to xbox. The thing is, most games nowadays are ports from xbox, so the quality will be poor unless you have a nice computer. I would go for this if this is what I wanted in a computer. Be sure to reformat it.

And the CPU is better than mine, so if you have the extra money to bump up the video card, it'd be a nice setup.
