Two more tips. The fastest processor you can upgrade this motherboard to without flashing the BIOS is the Phenom X4 9500. And make sure when you buy an Athlon 6000+ processor that it is the retail version and not the OEM version. The OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version does not have a heatsink or fan.

what do you mean by flashing the bios?

ADD:

anyways, all in all, does it seem goooood?

any changes would be going to a cheap 256bit graph card or a x3 core, so it would all still work anyways.

im hoping to order tomorrow. (well, its 1am now, so give it 12 hours)

any last min. suggestions wouldnt go astray :)

cheers again 2048 for your advice. you should really be getting paid to do this haha.

I am a beginner in information compared to some on this forum. But I am aspiring and studying to maybe someday be a computer technician.

But anyways, a "BIOS" stands for "basic input/output system." It is the built-in software that determines what a computer can do without accessing programs from a hard drive or other secondary storage device. On personal computers, the BIOS contains all the code required to control the keyboard, display screen, disk drives, serial communications, and other miscellaneous functions.

It really depends on what version of BIOS they put on the motherboard you are purchasing. I cannot find any information on what version of BIOS that the motherboard comes with. If the motherboard is flashed (loaded) with the latest BIOS you could install almost any Socket AM2+ with that board. If the board has the F1 BIOS you cannot utilize any of the Tri-Core Phenom processors. Your video card looks decent to me.

My own personal opinion, but I would get a good 500 gigabyte hard drive to cut the price down.

so if its got F1 bios, im limited to the x2 cores and the low end x4

is bios update-able?

is building a computer suppose to be this stressful? lol

You can flash a BIOS, but it is potentially hazardous because you can ruin a motherboard updating the BIOS. I have never done it so I don't know how difficult it is to do. I just purchase motherboards that will work the chosen processor so I won't have to update the BIOS.

Go to this website:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2758

Click on the "CPU Support List" link. Every processor that has an F1 next to it will work with your chosen motherboard.

If you want to a better processor with this system I would look at another model of Gigabyte motherboard. I would still recommend you just save some more money and get the Phenom 8750 Tri-Core processor. Why buy the current components if you are going to upgrade in only one year to something else? You will only end up spending more money.

When I upgrade my computer I like to try to keep my components for at least three years. Why burn your money on new components all the time? Not wise in my opinion.
