Is this the correct version of windows 8

8.1s disc is too expensive this time around so I'd thought I'd just go for 8 then upgrade for free to 8.1 is this possible with the disc( is it windows 8 and can I upgrade from it for free?)

I wouldn't trust that site. If you don't need the pro features why do you need it? If you are a standard home user, you don't need the pro version.

*sigh* fine,oh an idea just popped into my head what if I did the windows 8.1 ISO image to DVD and then bought a product key (assuming that's possible)

He's just asking because it sounds like you have no idea what you're doing.

If you aren't joining the PC to a domain or using virtualization via Hyper-V then there's no benefit for you to pay extra for pro.
