Is this Upgrade worth it ?

Hello, I am vaguely thinking about making the CPU/MOBO/RAM upgrade for my custom rig.
This is my current setup

MOBO - BIOSTAR TForce TP45HP LGA 775 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138123

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115041
OC'ed to ~3.3

RAM - CORSAIR XMS2 DHX 4GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145194

GPU - Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129114

All powered by ENERMAX INFINITI 720W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194021

Now, the upgrades would be following

CPU - Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115211

MOBO - ASUS P6T SE LGA 1366 Intel X58 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131386

RAM - OCZ Platinum 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000(PC3 16000) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227310

My question is, would I see big leap performance-wise ? The PSU should still be able to give enough juice to all the new parts correct ? I know the 4870x2 might be bottlenecked by the current Q9550, therefore goin to the i7, would there be a significant difference ?
LAst but not least, please give me you true opinion on if this upgrade would be smart at this time considering technology comes and goes.
Thank You.

You already have a decent build, but yes, you will notice a difference.

A big part of this will be due to the Memory.

Your current setup runs Dual Channel DDR2 RAM.

The X58 runs Triple Channel DDR3. You'll need to choose a Triple Channel
RAM kit for the new board. If you use only 2 sticks, the memory will run in
Single Channel mode. The slots need to be filled equally.

Don't waste your money on the 950. I paid $300 for my 920 and it runs at
3.43Ghz all the time. The 920 will be more than you will ever need.

Thank you, I will definitely wait a bit.
Also thx for the valuable info on the triple channel kit, guess i need to upgrade my brain to date lol.

Personaly....i dont think its worth the upgrade,You have to ask the question, What you are trying to do/run that your current build cannot?

also i dont think your Q9550 bottlenecks your 4870x2.

My Q6600 rig in sig can handle anything i throw at it....and will not be upgrading anytime soon.

Thank you, that makes me happy, I read somewhere that a card like this tends to get bottlenecked by CPU's. That's whay I mentioned it.
I also forgot to say I have dual monitor setup, main screen is 24" running everything at 1900x1200(including games and all apps), secondary is at 1600x1200. I think that plays a role in that as well.

I mean...getting an i7 would be awesome,But then you need new ram, mobo etc and imo there realy isnt a big enough reason to go from a good skt 775 Quad core to an i7.

Intel seems to have just shoved HT onto the i7 and made it a bit more efficient.

i may be wrong in some parts,But thats what i think.
