I'm building a computer using a 64 bit processor for gaming and am wondering is xp pro x64 worth the extra $40 compared to xp home edition, what are the x64 advantages?

Very few programs run in 64bit. That technology just never seemed to really kick off... I tried the 64bit Vista a few weeks back on my Athlon and I was actually rather disappointed... If it's anything better than X64...

Well, it's still a fairly new technology on the pc. And it's not true 64 bit it's mainly used for increasing ram now a days. It should take atleast two more years before we start seeing some good 64bit applications.

The thing about 64bit xp is that not all programs run on it, and some drivers are just imposible to find! Because xp is made to be a 32 bit OS, and they just changed it a little to add support for 64, it's not built for 64.

I dont recommend it at all, I find XP Pro x86 to be much more compatible. I would wait until Vista before buying an x64 based OS.
