Hey all, I have never worked with .iso extention files before...how do I use one? I believe I burn the image to a disc. I have Nero6 and a while back I remember burning the image but when I put the disk in it never worked. Can anyone explain to me how to use an ISO file? Thanks :D

I use DeepBurner. It's free and very simplified. There's an option to burn an ISO. Just select that, find the ISO, and tell it to burn. That's it!

All an ISO is really is just a direct copy of a CD. You might be able to just extract the files as you would a ZIP file, but usally the disks don't work this way. Boot sectors and all are typcially left out.

In order to burn .ISO images to a CD/DVD in Nero, click on the "extras" tab, and then click "burn image to disc".

also you can get a program like alcohol 120% which allows you to make .iso image files then mount them on virtual drives so you don't have to put cds in and out of your computer. It also allows you to burn .iso files and many other cd image file types

Mounting a virtual drive for something like memtest's iso image for cd wouldn't work there however. It will depend on the type of iso as well as just writing to disk. I did use Roxio for Linux distros that are generally downloaded as iso image files in order to burn several consecutive disks when going to install that particular version. In fact I intend to use DeepBurner for writing a memtest iso for testing a system where I had to add a floppy drive in with a 5 1/4" bay adapter on of all things an eMachine. (bllaaaaa..... )
