ive got virgin broadband and ive got the 10Mb service, your going to kill me for this but really 10Mb isnt that fast atall in terms of MBps doesnt it work out as 1.25, which is really slow, theoretically its similar speed of usb 1 as thats got a speed of 12Mbps = 1.5MBps

You have to remember that the most common dsl speed around here is usually 1.5 to 3 mb. So a 10mb connection is actually alot better than most.

So you couldn't live with downloading a file at 1.25mb a second? I'm on 15mb comcast cable and the fastest I've seen a file download is 1.5mb/second or so.

but if you think about it the internet speed is the most slowest speed in your whole computer ie slower than usb1 even, so its slowing it down, dunno just bored just making a point

I can't believe you actually compared bandwidth with transfer speeds.

Switch ISP to faster or move to America and get the 32mb Comcast BETA connection.

Virgin are unfortunately the sole holders of the fibre network for the UK domestic market (BT still own most of the copper and a lot of the backbone), they do have 50mb but it's going to be traffic shaped eventually because they're overloading the network. I get 5-6mb here, and that's fine surely?
