Hi,

So I ordered a new hard drive to update my Dell e4300 (from 160gb to 320gb). I installed the hard drive in the slot and then I made the boot start from the cd drive (Windows Vista CD). The setup goes ok till a message pops up saying "Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware".

So did I do something wrong here? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

seems to be working fine. the size available went down after the first installation so it seems to be loading data fine.

Your system with Intel storage controller is set up as "RAID" mode, in the BIOS. (this is a lot of PC manufacturer's standard setting).

The hard drives, you want to install to ia "advanced format" disk.

None of what you said makes any sense. I have an E6500 and the only SATA options are ATA, AHCI, and a third Intel method. He shouldn't have to change anything in the BIOS.
