issue with my computer

Hey,

Basically when I first purchased my computer I had some issues with my hard drive. It would crash periodically and occasionally give my a "failure to boot disk" issue when trying to start the computer. I just did a reformat and reinstall of the OS and that fixed it for a time. About a year later it happened again so I purchased a 75GB Rapter from WD to use for basically just my OS and put all my other files on the original hard drive. Thats been working for about a year now and I haven't had any issues until now. Only this time I'm not too sure if its even the hard drive. I unplugged the original hard drive from my computer and that solved one of the issues I was having (it was giving me an error saying the drive is failing and I should back it up and replace it as soon as possible, so I guess that drive is bad and I did replace it). So unplugging it got rid of that error, but now I still get the "failure to boot disk" error from my rapter drive. I find it hard to believe that I would have the bad luck of getting two bad hard drives within two years. Does anyone know if there is anything else that might be causing these issues? Possibly the motherboard?

Any help will be very much appreciated! I just wanna get my computer working for good this time.

Your hdd controller might be bad, therefore wearing out your discs really fast. My other computer burned one up this way (it would never stop running.)

Solution, get a new motherboard.

Ahh bummer. I'll probably just get a new pc then in that case. My motherboard right now is still socket 939 and would seem to be a waste of money to purchase another socket 939 when everything new coming out is socket am2.

So unless anyone else has any other ideas on what this could be I'll most likely just scrap this comp for parts and upgrade.
