Issues with alt tabbing

Ok, to help you guys understand I'm going to try and explain everything...

NOTE: PWI is the game I am talking about - Perfect world international

It all started off when I detected a virus on my PC, i'd like to point out that during this time PWI was running fine. As a result of the virus I reformatted my PC, reinstalled xp as well as my drivers and files.

Now upon reinstalling PWI this is where the problem arised, when in game I can play fine with no issues nowever when I "alt tab" out of the game i.e. go to desktop to open email, firefox etc... Then go back into the game I find that the pwi cusor becomes the standered desktop cusor - Upon clicking anywhere on the screen in this state will result in throwing me back to the desktop as if I had alt tabbed... I can go back into the game again but clicking results in throwing me out again. The game is running in this state, but I am unable to interact with the mouse.

It sounds to me like the game isn't been run to the front or something like that, could anyone give me insight on what to do?

My anti virus is: Comdo
My video card is: Geforce GX8400 (SFF)
Op: Windows XP home
PC: GX280 (SFF) (dell)

UPDATE: I am able to use all keyboard keys in game i.e. open the map, it seems to be a mouse only issue. Also the desktop breiftly flashes at me while in game.

Update: The middle mouse wheel seems to work, however anything related to clicking boots me to desktop as desribed above.

Update: While running the game in a window I do not have this problem.

Which driver did you install? The latest from the Nvidia website or from your driver disk?

Did you also see if there were any updated drivers for your motherboard? Sometimes also uninstalling and reinstalling the video game can fix problems.

I haven't played the game. If you read the posts in the PWI forum, this is an issue for everyone and seems to be a fault with the game design. One poster suggests you should not Alt-Tab out of a DirectX game at fullscreen due to video memory issues. It seems the best solution is to run in windowed mode with the game and screen resolutions similar.

There's a technical discussion about Alt-Tab with DirectX here. No help to this thread but shows it's a programming issue that exists in some games.
