Issues with my computer

Ok I have been having a problem with my self-built computer, about a month ago it overheated and fried my CPU, but at the time I thought it had fried my motherboard. So I bought a new motherboard and this motherboard had a feature that alerted me to my CPU being fried aswell. Annoyed beyond belief I ordered a new cpu, but now it wont boot.

Everytime I boot all my fans turn on for a few seconds then turn off, nothing loads or anything and the LED lights stay on. This is with the new motherboard and CPU =/

could use some help getting rather P/Oed at it

No CPU will fry itself out, unless you didn't put the cooler on or it wasn't on completely. Newer CPU's turn off if they get too hot.

Check and re-seat your RAM. You may have gotten an 800FSB mobo and an E4300 and bought an E6850 or something that needs higher FSB. Revert back to the "fried" CPU.

Lol I feel stupid, but whatever I'm still new to all of this.

I've reseated my RAM and it does the same thing whether ram is plugged in or not or in different spots.

I dunno its on the new motherboard and its doing the same thing as the old one, the old one came with the cpu in a bundle off of tiger direct and worked fine for a month (AMD 64 x2 2.8 ghz and now the new one is an amd 64 x2 2.6ghz cause I didn't have enough money to afford the other one again =/)

I've tried switching CPU's and motherboards and it still does the same thing no matter what, I also had my power supply checked and it is working fine so I'm at a loss

Did you install the motherboard on stand-offs?
I mean there is a possibility that your motherboard is shorted out and hence won't start up.

its on stand offs, no extra ones messing with it either, it could be shorted out but I just bought it and Id rather hope I didn't waste a bunch of money on a piece of junk. =/

ok I have come to the conclusion that the motherboard was shorted out, so I swapped in my old one that I thought was shorted out too to test it. with nothing plugged in, no processor either, it seems to boot up fine but when I stick in a processor, my old one or my brand new one, it goes back to only starting for a few secs

and now I have come to the conclusion that the seating in the old one is bad or something, im gonna have them both tested tomorrow =/

Try taking it out and setting it on an wooden bench or so, plug it in, and then try it again. MY motherboard used to short even with the standoffs.

tryed it, still wont work I'm sending it back to tigerdirect to see if I can get a refund or a replacement

I've been testing the old motherboard and everything seems to work but when the processor is plugged in or the harddrive is plugged in it goes back to starting for a few seconds then stopping

although this is annoying I'm glad my video card is fine, it was the most expensive piece of equipment in my computer >_<
