It is possible to connect a PS2 online through a router?

I just tried to connect to online play with my PS2, but I put it through my router. When it went to connect it said my network cable was unplugged. I checked all the connections, they are correct. Is there something that would block my PS2 from having acess because it is through my router?

A special gaming router? Why is this? Isn't it the same connection?

I dunno, I dont have xbox live, its just my friends who do have it on a router all use gaming routers and it works fine.

That site says "a router aimed at gamers" not a router required for gamers.

That router was the only actual product I came up with which leads me to believe that there is not an actual type of router that is required.

Does that make sense?

never head of he requirement of such a thing for it either ;)

anyhow, to connect it you'll need a wireless router, and you should be fine :)

I've got a wireless router. and I'm assuming you just connect your PS2 normally to it using s Cat5 cable. So I did that but it keeps telling me that there is no connection when I try to go online. I made sure the cable was working by connecting it to my PC through the router and it worked fine. Any suggestions?
