ITA Radeon 7000 Problems

Hi, Had to reinstall Windows Xp on my computer and now I am having problems with the graphic card. It works fine until I try to run a video say on Microsoft media Player or real Player then it locks up and I have to use task manager to stop it. The machine freezes then and I have to force a shut down. I have installed the latest drivers from the ATI site with the consul and without. I have even tried the older drivers they have there to no avail. I have taken everything else i can think of that might clash with it off, like DVD software etc and nothing. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

How about quicktime? I suspect Windows media player and Real Player use about the same overlay settings, but I'm pretty sure Quicktime doesn't...

Okay I downloaded Quicktime and although it does not lock up the computer it doesn't play, just jumbled sound. Does that tell you anything? I'm lost with what to do...

The other media players should work once you install the divx codec, you dont actually need to use the divx player.

i have heard that radeon is not a good card, is that true for anyone that has used it before? thanks

Strange but the Divx player worked and I watched an hr long video. Then later when i went back to it the player did like all the others and froze. I am back to nothing working. Don't know if i should reformat and start all over again or what?
Is it poss that the graphic card is broken although it appears to work with everything else?
