it's not the video card stuttering!

hey all, my recent post "another 4870 stuttering problem" says how my 4870 was stuttering after a little bit of playing games, you can delete that thread for it is not the case. i removed my 4870 from my case and installed my old 4670 1gb. guess what? it still stutters! so now i need a list of ideas that could possibly be the solution. weather it's reinstall windows, update your mobo, get a better psu, bad RAM, etc. just tell me what you think the problem is and that will help. i'll try to give as much info as i can right now.

Alright so Friday night, i'm playing video games 100% fine not a problem. I go to the ATI website and noticed there is an update, 12.1. cool i should download it and install it. so i do, but first i make a restore point. once i download the drivers, i uninstall the other drivers through catalyst install manager, then reboot into safe mode and use driver cleaner to get rid of them. reboot, install new drivers. everything is just "peachy" right? not a bit. i start to play APB reloaded, and then it happened....i started stuttering. highly unusual since this is a 4870, should be able to handle almost any game fine. so now i've done alot of things but to no avail, i still didn't get it to stop stuttering. a piece of info here, if i start playing any game for like 5 mins it's smooth as a baby's bottom, but after that, then it starts to stutter. so i decided to remove my 4870 and use my 4670 until i could get this fixed. problem is, my 4670 still stutters too! well then that means it's not the video cards, it's something else in the system, weather it be video drivers or RAM. here are my specs:

CPU: Phenom II x4 955 BE
GPUs: sapphire (or diamond, it doesn't say at all) radeon HD 4870 512mb
Sapphire radeon HD 4670 1gb
mobo: MSI 870A-g54
PSU: coolermaster elite 310 460w
RAM: crucial 4gb 1333mhz

right now in my opinion, things are pointing to bad, and or more ram, bad hardrive, or windows is bad and needs reinstalling. any suggestion will be helpful and glady taken in and appreciated, so don't be afraid to say anything. also, about that restore point i mentioned earlier, for some reason my computer doesn't like to hold restore points and either deleted it or never saved it in the first place. Thanks! :good:

Try reinstall older driver.

Edit: Did you try older games?

Edit again: Are you using Vista 64 bit? There is alot issused video cards stuttering.

Edit: I searched around for answer, lot of them have same problem on 12.1 Driver, just uninstall 12.1 and reinstall older driver

already did that did nothing, but i think i have found the solution.

this morning i wanted to see what would happen if i got on my guest user and get on a game. played black ops for 20 mins no stutter. WTH!!! so now i'm going to see what happens if i get on my user and see if it stutters.

If it still stutters, create a new permanent account and see if it stutters on there. If no, just move everything off your desktop to a hard drive, and transfer everything back on. Might need to reconfigure your style changes and what not. And if you installed games or programs and chose "install for only me," you'll have to reinstall those too.
