itunes not playing music

I need help, I'm becoming more and more frustrated because I cant see to find a solution to my problem.

I have a new laptop with windows vista and I recently downloaded itunes 8. It worked fine until two days ago. Now every time I try o play a song no audio come out, the song is stuck on 0.00, but it says that it is playing.

My speakers are fine.
I've tried restarting itunes, restarting my computer, uninstalling itunes, completely removing all files from my hard drive as well as all quick time files, re-downloading itunes....
still my problem persists.
I've checked to see what other people have said about this ( I was surprised to find a large number of people have his problem) but no one seems to have a way to fix it.

any ideas?

Check your soundcard driver, i think iTunes does that when it does not detect a soundcard installed.

how would I do that?
I'm not he most knowledgeable when it comes to comupters...

Itunes had problems with vista.
My itunes was not opening,no matter how many times i double clicked on it.
But Apple has released a new version of itunes (8.1), which is compatible with vista.
Download it (~80MB) and try it.

I also has problems with my itunes this week. It has worked fine for months with no issues. This week It would take me about 10 tries to open it, once it was open the sound would come and go. I am not sure what happened.

I downloaded a newer version and installed it...everything works fine now. Maybe some sort of issue with a windows update or something.
