I've been scammed!!

I answered a job post online recently for a data entry position, and found out later the whole company is a scam. I emailed them my resume which contained some personal information. They sent me a followup email with a bogus link which I didn't click. Do I need to be worried at this point?

It depends on what details you filled in. An online application other than through a reputable agency has to be treated like you are talking to anybody. That's all they are to you. Quite an alarming scenario especially when a high number of people are out of work. Very easy to get sucked in.

It raises the question of when can you trust an employer. At some point you probably have to give Social Insurance number and bank account details for getting paid. At that stage you have to be absolutely sure who they are by face-to-face meetings at their premises. Take time to check out the company.

Name address DOB and SS# not good my friend. Did you do? Not good. If so check your credit report often you might of bought a house and sure you got new credit cars galore.

I sent them an email saying I was interested in applying, and that I had this and that qualification, and attached my resume. The resume had my name, phone number, email address, and blog url.

just stay alert ! play them at there own game one step ahead i dont think they can do much with that information but you dont know these idiots :(

With that info they need to get physical. Break into your mailbox. Do not think they do not have people that can do. Watch out and stay aware. This is a syndicate.

If you gave them no credit card or bank information you should be alright, except that now you are going to get a ton of emails from various scammers all trying to squeeze some loot. I went through that some time ago. Figured with my abilities I should be able to get something, but it was scam after scam. If you gave them credit card or bank info whatch your accounts like a hawk!!

This little story is related to scams in general. I got one of those "You have won a prize" emails. I read the email over and over but could not figure out where the scam was. I knew it was there somewhere. A few days later it clicked. The number to claim the prize was a 1-900 . All they had to do was keep you on the phone for 20 minutes saying they were swamped and you would have a nice big 1-900 item on your next phone bill. Get a few thousand people doing that and they could afford to send out a few cheap prizes to keep it legal.

if you sent them your SSN, that is not a good news, remember if your looking for a job, only trust the major websites such as monster.com, any other website that claims they will find you a job is pretty much bad news.....
