I JUST FINISHED my system not long ago maybe 2 months and i already want to go farther

im thinking about an AMD this time just for the hell of it

whats the difference between the winchester the newcastle and the venice?

Quote from another forum: "SSE3 added
better memory controller
some bugs fixed (subzero cooling being read as overheating for example)

Other then that I wouldn't really know, except that the venice is 90nm and the the newcastle is a 130nm part."

nm= nano meters

Check: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t142290.html

Newcastle = Oldschool proc, 120nm, 512K L2
Winchester = Least power hungry, least heat producing proc, very nice overclocker, 90nm, 512K L2
Venice = Right between Newcastle and Winchester (closer to Winchester though), 90nm, 512K L2, added SSE3, extended memory configuration suppport

thanks that was what i needed
also

I really like ASUS boards but i see in the OC 101 it recommends an MSI board

is that the most effective board for gaming / OC ing?

does ASUS have anything thats comparable?

this is with the 939 socket
say a venice

Ive not updated the OC101 but for AMD64 you've essentially got two boards to choose from, the DFI Lanparty4 or the MSI K8N Neo4 both are stupidly good overclockers with the DFI being a better overclocker but the MSI having a better hardware featureset. No ASUS doesnt have a Athlon64 classleading product (unless you consider Via chipsets .... but Via chipsets arent classleading)

Neo4 is a nForce4 chipset so unless they have an AGP NF4 then no. For AGP its a much cleaner choice for the MSI K8N Neo2
