Jailbreak iPod touch 2.2?

I just saw a post on Digg about jailbreaking iPod touch version 2.2, but in the comments someone said this was only possible if you have the generation 1 iPod. So still not possible on the gen 2 ipod touch. Anyone know more about this?

As far as I know, 2nd Gen iPods can't be Jailbroken yet... I think the Dev team are working on something though.

It should be out very soon, i just jailbroke my iphone 2.2 last night. I think i read that the ipod touch 2.2 was in beta stages right now.

Apple locks their software and does not allow modification. Jailbreaking unlocks it so people can write their own apps and get around Apples rules. It was a big deal before the app store because it allowed people to put apps on the ipod when you couldn't otherwise.
