On a fresh re install, with XP SP2 installed sometimes, not always, on a restart or shutdown, a box will come up and say; (It only sits there a few seconds, hence the wording may not be exact) 'runtime did not terminate as requested....' and then it allows the restart or shutdown to occur. I am not sure if any damage to my system is being created by this error or not?
I have had SP2 on this PC before, although for only a short time, before I received other errors.. which may or may not have been related to installing SP2... I did not see this box when I had SP2 installed during that time period. I wonder why I see it now?
I thought that Java was included in SP2? OR does Sun still have control over Java?
I typically (non SP2 installation) install a Sun Microsystems's Java application and this time, after seeing the Java error box, I installed it (Runtime/Java Update 2 to Ver 5.0, the latest version I could find) and received the very same error box on a restart or shutdown.
I know I'm missing something here.. Should I install Java at all? OR install Java, and what version would I install?
This is very frustrating... to say the least.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
