Java take so long!

Hi
I downlaoded a program form the internet....
now, i'm runing the set up, but while downlaoding the setup, it is noe stuck on 'instaling Java' it has been there for 10 minutes! :eek: (since 6:05 eastern time zone) how long will it take? (i have a dial up connection)
Also, do i need to be on the net for instlaing Java?

You may have connected to bogged down server or one down for maintainence. You'll probably be better off canceling the download and first get Java installed fully to return to the download site later.
 
Limewire's done that a few times on my friends computer. Download java seperately, then install the program. Not to mention java is like a 20MB download, so you're gonna be there for a long time no matter what you do.
 
ok...so i better just go ahead and doanlaod java along? (i have been downlaoding it for 30 minutes now) cause i did cancel it earlier...but i restarted it, since i did not know what to do.

or maybe i should just keep on...i'm installing lime wire...and now it has been downlaoding for 45 minute....shouldn't take much longer?

the thing is
it doesn't tell you the status of your download
so your download might be frozen and you dont know
 
With Lime Wire you have an option to clear all inactive in the download list. When something seems to take forever just press that button to clear out the stuff that is locked up. With dialup especially try only one download at a time to see if that helps speed things up a little.
 
my downloading rate is 2kb/s :D lol i can't possibly have 2 sonds in the ssame time...:D
right now, it takes about 30 minutes to downlaod a tune. lucky eh?

Just think... well I hope you have a 56k modem to work with? Those ole 14.4 and 28.8k modems were even better for falling asleep. The wonderous days of dialup(I don't care what they say about hi speed dialup.) are gone for good here.
