JAVA update question

Hi, I'm trying to clean out some unused programs in my daughter's computer, it's really running slow. I don't know what these are for and if they're needed, they appear to be out of date -

JAVA 6 Update 5
JAVA 6 Update 11
JAVA 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 update 7

I'm also wondering what to do when you try to remove a program and it won't remove. There are 3 unneeded ones that can go but won't -

ArcSoft PhotoImpression 4
ArcSoft Panorama Maker 4
ArcSoft Panorama Maker 3

Any idea how to get rid of these?

As far as Java goes, uninstall all older versions and then install the latest version here.

As far as uninstalling apps that won't uninstall or was partially uninstalled won't delete out of add/remove programs, you can use Ccleaner I believe to purge the files. I used to use an app a long time ago called Add/remove pro (which is free) to actually remove the item from the add/remove list. And you can always reinstall the program and then uninstall it.

Also look on the company's support site for a removal tool download that will get rid of the programs for you.
