Joystick calibrate issue

I have a Thrustmaster Afterburner joystick, and I'm trying to play a flight simulation game, Microsoft flight simulator 2004. In the game, the joystick doesn't work correctly at all. I don't really know how to calibrate it right either. I've tried calibrating it many times, but it still won't work right. I used it perfectly with the same game about 2 years ago, but now I reinstalled the game to play it again, and the joystick is messed up. Can anyone help?
